Britons due to jet off to travel corridor destinations may have had their dreams suddenly shattered by the Government’s latest round of “lockdown” measures. In recent weeks, Boris Johnson has reinstated his draconian rules on certain areas of the UK.

Much of the North has been the particular target of these stringent rules.

Though the specifics of each rule vary from location-to-location, some holidaymakers with plans to travel abroad may suddenly find they are having to self isolate.

One travel provider who is still serving a number of flights to destinations including mainland Greece and some of Portugal’s islands is Jet2.

Luckily, for any of its customers who are impacted by the latest round of lockdown measures, the operator has provided an option.

According to the Jet2 website, holidaymakers who can no longer fly due to “local lockdowns” can rebook free of charge.

“If you’ve got a flight booked for holiday but have to self-isolate due to a localised lockdown, you can amend admin fee-free to a later date,” explains the Jet2 website.

However, it further warns: “Just so you’re aware, the postcode on the booking will have to be included within the boundary of the localised lockdown.”

Holidaymakers who need to amend their booking can contact the Jet2 customer service team by telephone.

UK holidays: Lockdown rules could see Britons enjoying half price stay [INSIGHT]

Although many holiday hotspots have recently been axed from the travel corridor list, destinations such as the Portuguese islands and parts of Greece have seen an increase in demand.

As a result, Jet2 and Jet2 holidays made the decision to increase its flight offering to these locations.

Last week the budget airline added more flights to Corfu, Kos, Rhodes and Madeira.

It was further forced to axe all planned package holidays, as part of Jet2holidays, to Turkey.

Flights, however, continue to depart.

A spokesperson for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays told Express.co.uk previously: “Due to the latest government travel advice, we have taken the decision to suspend package holidays to Turkey (Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman and Izmir) up to and including October 17.

“We are obviously very disappointed to be making this announcement, as we know how much our customers look forward to their well-deserved holidays.

“We have been repeatedly recognised for how we have been looking after customers during the pandemic, and we are cancelling affected package holiday bookings with a full cash refund and are offering £100 off the next holiday booking for customers who wish to rebook.

“For flight-only customers, we are continuing to operate to Turkey.

“For customers due to travel up to and including October 17 and who no longer wish to do so, we are offering them the option to rebook with no admin fee.”

The airline hopes that the addition of new, quarantine-free destinations will serve as a welcome replacement for the now missing Turkey holidays.

“We know how much customers want to get away for their much-needed holidays.

“To give customers options when it comes to booking or rebooking their holidays, we have plenty of choice to destinations such as Corfu, Rhodes, Kos, Kefalonia, Cyprus and Madeira.

“For any customers due to travel to Turkey after October 17, we will provide an update ahead of their departure date.

“We would like to remind affected customers that they do not need to contact us, as we will be in touch. We would also like to thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding.”
