The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way in which many people around the world live their day-to-day lives. But the one industry that has suffered the most is travel.

Airlines, cruise lines and holiday companies have been forced to make drastic changes to their businesses as travel restrictions remain in place.
If the coronavirus pandemic continues, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) said that 75million jobs and $2.1trillion (£1.7trillion) in revenue could be lost.
CEO of WTTC Gloria Guevara said that the potential job losses are “bringing real and profound worry to millions of families around the world.”
But one travel expert thinks that the industry could see an influx of new products which could completely transform travel post-coronavirus.
Travel and content writer Pola Henderson revealed that one product in particular could change the future of travel while giving holidaymakers the security they require while travelling after coronavirus.
She said: “I think people will be looking at products that give them a sense of security.
“So perhaps some travel gear that has innovative fabrics that are easier to clean and dry quickly.
“For example, a shirt that you can wash in your hotel sink and then it’s dry the next day.

“I think we might travel with fewer pieces, maybe even reversible pieces.”
She explained that new, innovative fabrics which are anti-fungal could change the way people pack for their holidays.
“I think anything that gives us that sense of security – innovative fabrics, smart textiles – is an opportunity.
“Clothing that we see which is made for athletes – those technologies can be translated into clothing for travellers.
“There are already companies doing this on a smaller scale.”
She explained that the coronavirus is an opportunity for companies and businesses to come forward and create apps and products that will reassure people when they travel.
Pola thinks that travel clothing or fashion is just one of the areas which will change the future of travel.
“I think we will also see something like this in the luggage sector – again maybe some new fabrics or something that’s easy to disinfect or clean”, she said.
She added: “If we look at the coronavirus and averting climate change and we combine this, there will be so much innovation.
“By this time next year there will be so many new start-ups.
“There will be new products and a lot more online services that didn’t exist before.”
