JetBlue doing 5 percent capacity cut coronavirus

JetBlue will reduce capacity by 5% in response to the impact
the Covid-19 virus has had on flight demand.

“We are closely monitoring booking trends to assess whether
additional capacity reductions will be required,” the carrier said in a
statement Friday. JetBlue said it has made the cut in a manner that ensures
that in nearly all cases customers can be rebooked to alternative flights that
will get them to their destination on the scheduled day.

The move closely followed United’s plan to reduce domestic
and Canada flying in April by 10% and international flying by 20%.

JetBlue also said it is reducing hiring for front-line and
support center positions, limiting nonessential spending and considering
offering voluntary leave.
