Covid cases have decreased over the last few months, thanks to the combined effects of the lockdown and vaccine programme. The Government has now successfully realised the first three stages of its unlock down plan, despite some isolated rate increases. England’s variable rates also go the other way, and figures have unveiled several areas where they are the lowest.

They have plummeted from tens of thousands during the most recent peak in January, allowing select businesses to open again.

Rates have now dripped to roughly 100 per 100,000, even in the most profoundly impacted areas.

As cases fall, vaccination in the UK has continued to gather steam.

The pace of the rollout has complimented the 33.1 million people who have received their first with another 10 million complete doses.

And data is confirming the far-reaching protection afforded to those who accept the jab.

The Daily Telegraph received leaked results from a study conducted by UK Coronavirus Clinical Characterisation.

They showed of the 74,405 patients admitted to hospital with Covid from September to March just gone, only 32 had received the jab.

All of them had at least one dose and waited the required three weeks required to build immunity.

Speaking to the publication, scientists said the vaccines were working “extremely well”.
