Type 2 diabetes is barely perceptible in the beginning because the mechanism that underpins it – high blood sugar levels – takes a while to unleash its destructive effects. If left untreated, unconstrained blood sugar levels can cause the body to malfunction in dramatic ways. For most people, this escalation constitutes the first warning signs of type 2 diabetes.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, buy cheap zithromax online for sale pharmacy no prescription nutritionist Claudia le Feuvre, outlined the symptoms that closely resemble irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

IBS is a common condition that affects the digestive system. It causes symptoms like stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation.

“Type 2 diabetes can affect the structure and function of the colon promoting commonly encountered lower gastrointestinal symptoms,” explains le Feuvre.

This can result in IBS-like symptoms, such as constipation, diarrhoea, abdominal distention, bloating, and abdominal pain, she warned.

How to treat gastrointestinal symptoms

“CBD may help alleviate gastrointestinal symptoms, due to its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties in the gut,” says le Feuvre.

Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is derived from the CBD compound which is found in cannabis.

It has been associated with having a number of potential therapeutic uses, including for diabetes.

“The benefits of CBD for treating diabetes-related health problems may include reduced inflammation and improved blood glucose control,” explains Diabetes.co.uk.

Evidence supports the use of CBD for diabetes management.

University of Nottingham researchers showed that CBD in combination with another cannabis compound called tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), helped lower blood sugar levels and increase insulin production in people with type 2 diabetes.

Insulin is the hormone used to regulate blood sugar levels. If you have type 2 diabetes, insulin production is hampered, which leads to rising blood sugar levels.

Before you consider treatment options, it is important to get your symptoms checked out by a GP.

“You’ll need a blood test, which you may have to go to your local health centre for if it cannot be done at your GP surgery,” explains the NHS.

As the health body points out, the earlier diabetes is diagnosed and treatment started, the better.

“Early treatment reduces your risk of other health problems.”

Other key tips for managing type 2 diabetes

Although specific tweaks, such as taking CBD may help, it is important to look at your overall dietary approach.

There’s nothing you cannot eat if you have type 2 diabetes, but you’ll have to limit certain foods.

The ones to watch are carbohydrates because carbs are broken down into blood sugar (glucose) relatively fast.

Watching your carb intake can also help you to maintain a healthy weight, which is key.

“Losing weight (if you’re overweight) will make it easier for your body to lower your blood sugar level, and can improve your blood pressure and cholesterol,” explains the NHS.
