The stadium hosted the 2014 World Cup final between Germany and Argentina.

For history buffs, there’s the Museu Histórico Nacional.

Dating back to 1764, this impressive museum boasts relics relating to the history of Brazil, from gilded imperial coaches to enormous oil paintings.

When’s the best time of year to go to Rio de Janeiro?

For good weather, winter is the best time to visit as the cooler temperatures are better for hiking and sightseeing. Brazil’s winter lasts from May to September.

This also marks the dry season. If you’re eager to make the most of the country’s wildlife, then between July and September is best.

As for Rio’s famous Carnival, this usually takes place around February to early March.
