Island-luxury resort, Vakkaru Maldives, is teaming up with the biggest name in gourmet marshmallows, The Marshmallowist, to bring an unforgettable and traditional Easter experience to the tropics from 11 – 16 April 2020.
Founded by Oonagh Simms, The Marshmallowist is renowned as the first producer of gourmet marshmallows in the UK. Using premium ingredients – only whole fresh fruits, organic herbs and spices and boutique alcohol – The Marshmallowist combines classic confectionery with unexpected flavours like raspberry and champagne, strawberry and basil, charcoal and jasmine tea and more.
Marshmallows are as synonymous with Easter as chocolate, and throughout her ‘From Fluff to Cut’ partnership with the five-star resort, The Marshmallowist will be popping up all over the island to treat guests to a mouth-watering array of bespoke activities and indulgences.
From an “Easter Bunny Hot Chocolate Bar” at Amaany, to a “Very Marshmallowist Masterclass” for adults at Vakkaru Reserve and a similar experience for children at the Parrotfish Club, there’s an Easter-inspired activity on the itinery for guests of all ages.
Other experiences include an adults-only “Baileys x The Marshmallowist Cocktail Event” – in partnership with Baileys – at the resort’s over-water Lagoon Bar; and an afternoon in the sun at Cabana Bar’s “Easter Beats Pool Party”, where The Marshmallowist will be serving her signature mallow ice cream sandwiches.
As all marshmallow fans know, one of the best ways to enjoy the delicious confectionary is the squishy, gooey goodness of a s’more freshly roasted on a stick over a bonfire. Out of respect for this cherished tradition, Vakkaru and The Marshmallowist will end their partnership on a (sugar) high with a “Gimme S’More Sugar” bonfire movie night under the stars.

The Marshmallowist “Easter Bunny Hot Chocolate Bar” at Amaany
Well-known for her gourmet marshmallow hot chocolates, The Marshmallowist brings her signature recipes to Amaany, Vakkaru Maldives’ signature all-day dining restaurant, with a pop-up bar on Easter Sunday morning. “A proper hot chocolate is as cosy an indulgence you can have”, says Oonagh Simms, as she looks forward to sharing her indulgent hot drinks for a decadent start to the Easter festivities.
Options include the Love Potion, a rose hot chocolate with torched raspberry and champagne marshmallows, pistachio praline and rose petals; the S’mores Hot Chocolate, a classic hot chocolate topped with a torched vanilla marshmallow and a chewy biscuit crumb; and The Marshmallowist’ signature recipe – created in partnership with Baileys and featured at the ever-popular Baileys Treat Bar in 2018 at Covent Garden during winter – an adults-only hot chocolate with torched Baileys marshmallows.

A Very Marhsmallowist Masterclass at Vakkaru Reserve & Parrotfish Club
Guests are invited to learn to whip and get their hands messy this Easter as they fluff up their very own gourmet marshmallows with The Marshmallowist. The Marshmallowist will share her secrets on how to master marshmallow making – from flavour combinations to whipping the lightest of fluffs and decorating mallow creations using fresh ingredients from the island’s organic farm. Each guest can try their hand at all stages of the making process, including boiling up aromatic fruit purees and fluffing the mixture into perfect peaks, hand cutting and taking home their own personalised Marshmallowist mallows.

Baileys x The Marshmallowist Cocktails at Lagoon Bar
Whilst overlooking a surreal Maldivian sunset at Lagoon Bar, The Marshmallowist together with Vakkaru Maldives’ mixologist will curate three signature drinks based on ingredients harvested from the island’s organic farm. All recipes will featuring the celebrated Baileys Chocolat Luxe made from luxurious layers of Baileys irish cream liqueur and real Belgian chocolate resulting in a multi-sensory experience that tastes just like molten chocolate. From torching to infusing and vapouring, marshmallow cocktails will be taking centre stage at Lagoon Bar throughout Easter week.

The Marshmallowist Ice Cream Sandwich Pop-up Parlour at Cabana’s Pool Side
A limited-edition experience, The Marshmallowist’s fruit-based ice creams will be popping up at Cabana’s poolside ice cream shack joined by a DJ on the decks and a pool party in full swing for some fun in the sun. Using fresh ingredients from the island’s organic farm, this interactive and immersive experience will have guests queuing for delicious toasted vanilla fluff sandwiched between soft, melt-in-your-mouth cookies topped with fresh fruit, Easter eggs, chocolate shards and more.
